I was born in the Village of Nyack, New York, 22 April 1967. Four generations of my family were born in the same hospital. I have traced my lineage and family history back to 1160 in Rosshire, Scotland. I am very proud of my family, my heritage, and my beliefs. I am also a member of the Clan Ross Society of the United States.
Since I was a child, I have always thought there was more to life then what we can see, hear, or touch. I have always known our mortal time on earth is not all there is. Our physical bodies are merely vessels, or shells that hold more than flesh and bone. We know from modern medicine that our bodies work with electrical energy. Neurons, fire in synaptic bursts of energy creating thought, and reason. Albert Einstein proved that energy can never be destroyed, it can only change form. What is the energy in our bodies, and what happens to the energy in our bodies when we die? What is before, or after, is unknown to me, and everyone else for that matter. We can speculate on what we think, we can blindly follow what we are told about the afterlife, but in reality nobody knows. Unless you have been there, you do not know for sure if there is a heaven or hell, or Valhalla, or purgatory. The entire history of mankind is written with thoughts and beliefs that the afterlife it is one of the threads that make up the blanket of humanity. • 4000 years ago, people worshiped what they saw and did not understand. There were a number of gods, everything from water gods, to fire gods, to earth gods, this helped early people understand what they saw. • 3000 years ago, we knew the world ended on the horizon, where the sky and earth met. Ancient people believed that if you walked far enough you would reach the point there the sky met the earth on what was a dome over the world. • 2000 years ago, the concepts of what would become Christianity were evolving into ideas and beliefs that were helping people cope and understand, or explain that which they did not know. If something happened, it was “God’s will.” • 1000 years ago, the “One” god was most prevalent in the West. Judaism, Christianity, and Islam all share common beliefs, all believe in one god, all believe in Jesus Christ, all believe their thoughts are right. • 500 years ago, we learned we would not fall off the earth if we went too far out of sight. We learned that the earth was not the center of the universe, or even the solar system; our thoughts and beliefs were evolving. • 20 years ago, we learned that there are other worlds out there in far away solar systems like ours. To date, some 3000+ planets have been discovered. My point with the time-line is to illustrate how, with time, comes understanding of the world, and the universe. As we as a species, have evolved mentally over the eons of time, our knowledge has grown. It is only with blind faith that we can ignore what we know through science to be true. I believe only through scientific research will we learn and know the truth about what is beyond out mortal realm. Science is not a blaspheme, it is a portal to higher understanding of who, and what we are. it is not out to destroy religion. In my case, it helped me form my own opinions and ideas about who and what we are, where we come from, and where we are going. The further along in the fields of scientific understanding we as humans progress, the closer to “God” we get. My beliefs do not fall onto any “established” religion. I do not understand why I must go to a church building to worship, why I must give tidings to be blessed, why I’m required to pray a certain number of times a day, or why my understanding of the world around me needs to be dictated to me by others or what makes one religion more “true” then any other. If we are all equal in the eyes of God, or the Gods, then why must I strive to be the best person I can possibly be according to some old church doctrine? Does God not like the way I turned out? Why should others be able to judge my beliefs, or thoughts, based on there beliefs or perceptions? Why subscribe to a belief system that was hand chosen by scholars 1500 years ago, when the “Books” of the Bible were put together during the first councle of Nicaea. why were the Gnostic Gosples forbidden and forced to be hidden for 2,000 years? According to the Bible, it is ok to stone your own children to death if they talk back (Leviticus 20:9) or to give away your virgin daughters to strangers (Genesis 19:8). I do not think it should be so, and I will not follow a religion that thinks or feels that way.
We all have the right to think, feel, and worship as we see fit. We are all equal, and we are all spiritually the same. No religion is right, no religion is wrong. Beliefs should not be pushed onto others, but should be shared, and others may convert based on their understanding of such. I do not think threats and intimidation are part of God's plan.
Doing what is right, or good, is where we should focus our energy. Treat others the way you want to be treated. Help your fellow man in need, If you believe you will be judged in the next life, why would you not want too? I have free will, I choose my path, I do not think God is upset with me for what some people call sinning. Drinking is not a sin, sex is not a sin, and accumulation of wealth is not a sin. Just because you have been told all your life it is wrong, does not make it so in my life. Do not judge me, or others on your standards or beliefs, and I will give you the same respect and courtesy.
Because I think, and believe the way I do, I have chosen to follow my own path, I have chosen to think for myself, and spread my ideas with other like-minded people. I do not fit into a “box” of certain thought, so I made my own.
I have a Masters in Religion; I am a Veteran of both the Army and the Navy, and am a Nationally Registered Emergency Technician. I am a member of the National Rifle Association, a member of the American Association of Wedding Officiates, and a life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars. I am married, have 6 children, and 3 grandchildren. I Am a member of The Equestrian, Secular and Chapterial Order of Saint Joachim (Founded in 1755), a Officer of the Order of the Emerald Cross, and In 2005 I was honored to be recognized by the President of the United States for my work with youth programs with the Presidents call to service award for Lifetime achevment.
Please feel free to join me in my quest for truth, knowledge, and better understanding of who and what we are, where we came from, and where we are going. I have a lot of questions to ask. I do not know what we will find, but It should be an exciting journey.
